The Pre 60 Class produced some real battles between Rob Griffiths, Ray Everitt, Peter Hollinshead and Mike Wright. Peter Hollinshead was hampered throughout the season with unfortunate machine troubles. Mike Wright a podium place finisher in the past two seasons missed third place by ten points.
The Pre 65 250/350 class saw Robert Jones gaining maximum points in the first three meetings, but Mick Beech made up for the previous seasons loss by winning the title with Rob Hamer second. Andrew Owen, who had ridden in all the rounds had some bad luck and did not achieve his potential. Phil Anslow did however, and achieved a podium place, and therefore has something to take with him when emigrating to Australia.
Terry Challinor did not score in Narberth or in his own meeting at Hawkstone in the Pre 65 Unlimited class but had enough points in the five rounds he contested to win the title, although it did go down to the last round, with Glen Mottished getting the silver and Dave Cooper the bronze.
The Metisse class was a very much a Terry Challinor affair and although carrying an injury he still needed to get the points in the last round at Llantony, otherwise runner up Dave Cooper, was hot on his heels, and Terry could not afford to slip up.
In the Pre 74 up to 250 class, Lee Bird retained his title, and although it was the same championship placings as last year, it was not decided until the final round, with Ed Morris a close runner up and Ted Evans rounding off the top three.
The Pre 74 over 250 produced some fine racing throughout the season with Will Evans taking the title in style from Andy Carter, and John Nicholls.
